Self-Introduction
An international student comes from China.
Nearly 3 years of work experience in the import trade business before enrolling at KGU.
International Management Course (IMC) and major in Management.

Why did you decide to study in Japan?
The reason why I came to Japan is that I am very curious about how Japan can be conservative and open, traditional and advanced at the same time. As a developed country in Asia, Japan has high-quality education and advanced technology, while Japanese traditional corporate has their own solid business philosophy and standardized operation system for business management, which I would like to learn more about.
In addition, I have a strong interest in learning Japanese and living in Japan because I have been exposed to Japanese anime since I was a child.

How have your feelings changed since coming to Japan and what is your life in Japan like?
I had never been to Japan before studying there, but when I was really exposed to life here, I was amazed by it to be both conservative and tolerant. It retains a lot of traditional things while constantly absorbing new trends and is truly a place where the two-dimensional can blend well with the real world, which always makes me feel free and excited. Most Japanese are kind and polite when it comes to communicating, and wherever you travel within the country, you can also experience attentive service.

How did you spend or how are you spending your time while studying in Japan?
I enrolled at KGU in 2020 at a time when Covid-19 was still serious around the globe. While many of our courses were conducted online, we still can have a good discussion with the professor and classmates during the class or even after class via email, which made me feel the same as learning from a face-to-face class.
With less time for going to school, I have more spare time for other things like learning Japanese. Although IMC courses are taught in English, Japanese communication skill is essential for living in Japan. I found a part-time job at a restaurant which is near my apartment to practice my Japanese as well as earn a living expense. Studying and working part-time have made my life in Japan more fulfilling.

What did you gain from Kwansei Gakuin University Business School?
I was so grateful to study at the IMC program and to all the professors, classmates, and facility staff I met at KGU. The university actively accepts students from different cultural backgrounds and creates an international learning environment for everyone, which makes me feel very close to studying here. These two years of my MBA journey, it has not only enabled me to learn theoretical knowledge but also focused on teaching us how to analyze and identify problems, communicate effectively with the people we worked with, and most importantly, exercise the ability to actively share your own opinions during the class. I feel fortunate to be one of the students at KGU, where I have expanded my networking, made so many valuable friends, and enjoyed a different kind of school life.

What are your future goals and prospects?
I would like to enter the consulting industry to provide digital-related solution support to companies that go through the digital transformation period. In the two years since the outbreak of Covid-19, people’s lives and consumption have changed dramatically, going online has brought us the convenience of not only enabling remote studying but also remote working. I think this is the inevitable trend of the future, and I will keep continuing to contribute what I’ve learned in this field.

What subjects left a lasting impression on you?
1)Management
Since my major is management, so I took this course in my first semester. Management is a basic course. It reinforces your initial knowledge of corporate organization structure, strategic layout, and management models through numerous practical case studies and group discussions, to exercise your logical thinking and problem-solving skills, thus laying a solid foundation for the subsequent advanced courses.

2)Statistics
For me, I think Statistics is very practical. This course teaches us how to do data regression analysis through excel, which will be of great help both in doing subsequent research papers on quantitative analysis and in doing related statistical analysis work in the future.
